What’s Blooming Today!
It’s a beautiful day in paradise today, so I thought I would share what’s in bloom:
Knockout roses and behind that Physocarpus opulifolius 'Mindia’ COPPERTINA (which, without a doubt is going to completely overgrow that location.

Paeonia lactiflora 'Jules Elie’ and Geranium 'Rozanne' - Cranesbill. I didn’t stake the peonies this year so they sort of flopped over as they tend to do...

Another knockout rose with Iris sibirica 'Ruffled Velvet’. I just moved these irises here last fall… and the clover too!

One of my favorite roses, Rosa "Zepthinine Drouhin". It’s completely thornless and has this intoxicating smell. It just busted out this morning and is going to be covered in a couple days… you can see a foxglove on the left.

Some of the more avid readers of this blog (both of you) will remember that I did an article on transplanting hostas last August (http://detachedperspective.postach.io/post/dividing-a-hosta-in-august)… that turned out to be VERY successful and the following two photos show the results (Hosta 'Blue Angel’). You would never know that these had been divided….

note… a little poison ivy down there… that was deliberate of course….

Foxgloves… also the Alchemilla mollis - Lady's Mantle is in bloom… nice chartreuse. There is a peony here as well, but it has not bloomed and has only two buds. This spot has gotten a lot more shady over the last few years… we’ll need to move that one.

Lots of shade-loving green things here...

This Hydrangea anomala 'Petiolaris' - Climbing Hydrangea is finally getting to the point of dominating the fence here...

Nepeta x faassenii 'Walker's Low' - Catmint 'Walker's Low’… this plant loves its spot, but it tends to get floppy in the middle. After this bloom, I’ll cut it back severely so we’ll get a re-bloom later...

The fence on the left is dominated by two types of honeysuckle… Lonicera Sempervirens “Magnifica" is the one is bloom now… you can see some geraniums beneath it...

Another "Zepthinine Drouhin" on the arbor. This one has never done as well as the one on the porch. I’m thinking the soil here is not the best (although I amended it, I think it might be compacted deeper down… remarkable how much difference a little variation in location can make...
